Bespoke global tutoring for a world-class education
Our Academic Support service involves finding the elite tutor best suited to your family’s needs, to work on a long term basis with your child with a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week, developing a bespoke curriculum and overseeing progress towards long-term goals. We at Witherow Brooke remain on hand throughout the engagement to offer support and oversee progress.
We conduct a bespoke global search to find the ideal tutor for your family, ensuring a seamless fit with both your child’s educational needs and your family’s lifestyle. Supported by ongoing educational consultancy, guidance on admissions strategies for top-tier schools and universities, bespoke curriculum design, and advice on academic pathways, our service delivers a personalised, world-class educational experience.
Academic Support to Compliment Traditional Schooling
Unlike our Bespoke Homeschooling service, which provides a full-time, in-home educator for comprehensive homeschooling, our Academic Support service is designed to complement your child’s school education with personalised, one-on-one tutoring tailored to their specific academic needs.

Exact Match Tutor Placement
The success of our Academic Support service begins with our precise, bespoke tutor recruitment process. We take the time to understand your family’s needs and your child’s specific academic goals to ensure we find a world-class tutor who will be the perfect fit.
We conduct a global search to identify top-tier educators, involving headhunting, tapping into our vast network, and advertising on specialised educational platforms. Each educator undergoes a thorough recruitment process, including interviews with our directors, Roland and William, sample lessons, academic background checks, reference collection, and extensive background screenings.
Once we identify the best-fit academic tutors, we present you with a shortlist of three candidates, confident that each will be a great match for your family’s educational goals.

FAQs
How our rigorous process ensures the best fit for your family When supplementing school with academic support, where tuition follows school and can be limited in time, finding a tutor who can best communicate with your child and motivate them to learn is of paramount importance. At the very outset, we have an extended meeting to get to know your family and the background to the role. This then informs a detailed Job Specification which we draw up, and ensures that when we meet candidates, we are able to get a sense of how they will fit into your family’s needs. We then conduct extensive headhunting and advertising, typically receiving between 100-200 applicants for each role. After multiple rounds of interviews and an array of tests aimed to ascertain the candidates’ teaching styles, characters and expertise, we ultimately present you with a shortlist of three candidates who we believe will be an excellent fit for your family. We subsequently arrange sample lessons and trial periods until you decide upon the right tutor, and then act as a mediator for contractual negotiations between tutor and family. We can advise on all contractual considerations, including a salary offer to the tutor, accommodation, travel requirements, and leave allowances. Once agreed between all parties, we can draw up the necessary paperwork for you, whether you wish to employ a tutor directly, or engage them as a self-employed professional.
How we support the core tuition with advice, consultancy and subject specialists when necessary It is often the case that a family’s tutor is not experienced in covering certain aspects of your child’s education, whether that is a particular subject or a short course that is to take place over school holidays. In such scenarios, we can provide supplementary educators who are subject specialists, either to provide tuition directly or to consult with your primary tutor to develop a bespoke curriculum and then have frequent check-ins with them to ensure that tuition is progressing well and that any issues can be resolved as quickly as possible.
How we ensure your educator takes an informed and well-rounded approach to your child’s education In academic support roles, it is vital that a tutor’s work aligns as efficiently as possible with your child’s broader education and life experiences. Most important is that there is a line of communication between the tutor and your children’s school teachers, so that the educators’ work can be aligned to reinforce one another without pulling your child’s attention in multiple directions at once. When issues arise in your child’s school lessons, these can be addressed, and school tests and examinations can be prepared for and worked towards with the tutor at home. This is of particular importance when developing a child’s confidence in a particular subject, or tackling a subject which has caused some anxiety or stress in the past. Demonstrating how a child’s studies apply to life more generally is also a valuable tool in developing motivation and a continued joy in learning. We always advise our educators to anticipate upcoming family activities and holidays so that their curriculum can be tailored to incorporate all of a child’s experiences.
How we offer elite support to families and tutors over the entire engagement and beyond Unlike any other academic coaching service provider, we provide comprehensive support and not merely educational recruitment. From our first meeting with you to discuss your needs and objectives, we support you throughout the entire engagement, as well as the transition out of tuition, so that you can be sure that you are providing the best education at all times for your children. EDUCATIONAL CONSULTANCY: We offer advice and customised research on educational pathways to all of our clients, drawing on our extensive data, network of professionals, and experience. Whether students are looking for strategy and preparation for competitive schools or universities, interview practice, customised assessments, or advice from academic and industry professionals, we conduct bespoke research for all our clients at no extra cost. SUPPORTING TUTORS: We are in constant contact with the tutors over the entire engagement, providing assistance, resources and guidance if requested. In cases where the tutor cannot adequately cover specific subjects or areas, we are able to provide options for subject-specialist tutors to fill these gaps. QUARTERLY REPORTS: We conduct extended meetings with the tutor once a quarter, subsequently producing a report which offers updates on long-term educational ambitions, highlights upcoming decisions for the family, and milestones for the students. We are also able to provide recommendations for improvement and focus if desired. CONTRACTUAL NEGOTIATIONS: Additionally, we can handle negotiations with the tutor on behalf of the family for contract extensions or changes in scope, facilitating smooth interactions and ensuring the best educational outcomes for our students. SEAMLESS TRANSITIONS: From the outset, we bear in mind the ultimate goal of tuition and the transition the child will make from being homeschooled into either traditional education or the wider world. The goal is to best enable the student to flourish once the end of any period of homeschooled education comes to fruition.
What are the associated fees and costs? At Witherow Brooke, we typically recommend starting salaries of $120,000 USD per annum for full-time homeschooling roles, defined as positions involving 20 or more hours of teaching per week. Compensation beyond this benchmark can vary significantly based on a range of factors, including—but not limited to—the role’s location, weekly tuition hours, and the tutor’s qualifications and experience. For example, an academic tutor capable of teaching Calculus, Computer Science, and Music at high school level represents a highly rare skillset. Securing such an educator who also has the requisite personality and teaching experience would require a significantly higher salary. While part-time positions may offer lower base salaries, it's important to recognise the substantial time tutors dedicate outside of lessons—preparing materials, planning the year ahead, grading, and writing reports all require significant professional input. Witherow Brooke operates at the pinnacle of the homeschooling market. To attract the calibre of educators that we exclusively work with—many of whom may need to leave an existing position, relocate, or pivot their career path—it is essential that roles are compensated accordingly. Our fees at Witherow Brooke are equivalent to 25% of the tutor’s annual salary for the first year of an engagement and 15% thereafter. This fee is comprehensive, covering both the recruitment process and ongoing oversight and support throughout the placement.
